The Lulzbot mini 3D printer has a small form factor, weighing just about 19 lbs (8.6 kg) and measuring 17 x 13.4 x 15.2 inches, making it suitable for desktop use.

Easy Set-Up

User-friendly features such as self-levelling of print bed before beginning a print job, pre-print anti-clogging feature, and automatic calibration make the printer extremely easy to operate for beginners. The print plate size of the LulzBot Mini 3D printer is 6 x 6 x 6.2 inches – a fairly decent size when compared to other compact 3D printers in similar price range.

The included Cura 3D printer management software is easy to use with intuitive and straightforward options and can load all the common 3D file formats for printing without any issues.

Performance

Despite its small size and low price, the printer does not compromise in print quality and delivers prints with excellent precision, good details and high resolution with a supported minimum layer height/resolution of just .05 mm and a maximum build speed of 275 mm/sec. Though the individual layers are visible on the surface of the prints, like in the case of other 3D printers in its class, the print quality matches or excels that of the best 3D printers in its price-range.

The supported temperature range of the Lulzbot 3D printer extruder is very high (up to 300 degrees Celsius). The good temperature range of extruder is well matched by the wide temperature range of the heated print bed (up to 120 degrees Celsius).

Features & Build Quality

A very handy feature of the Lulzbot Mini is its ability to use a large variety of filaments including filament spools by various third party manufacturers. The printer can print using supports any 3mm 3D printer filament with absolutely no restrictions, commonly seen in proprietary printer designs.

In addition to the common PLA and ABS plastic filaments, the printer can also use nylon, polycarbonate, PETT, t-glase (a material for printing transparent objects on 3D printers), conductive PLA, PCTPE, the increasingly popular HIPS, Polyester, bronze/copper filled filaments and many other types of filaments. The included filament with the printer is HIPS (high impact polystyrene) type and delivers excellent and consistent print results.

The Lulzbot Mini 3D printer has a solid build quality with a robust steel frame. It is an open-frame type printer with no barrier between the print area with hot moving parts and the outside. This makes it quite noisy during operation due to the lack of any sound-shielding as well as unsuitable for use by young users without supervision.

The open-source nature of both the hardware and software of the Lulzbot Mini 3D printer makes this printer useful for tinkerers and makers who may want to experiment with the printer and modify it according to their ideas.
